This Wednesday the president Sebastian Piñera, together with the finance ministers, Ignacio Briones; of Economy, Lucas Palacios and of Education, Raúl Figueroa, received the announcement of the Microsoft’s largest investment in Chile, which includes the construction of the company’s data centers in the country.

In an activity carried out in the Patio de las Camelias of the Palacio de La Moneda, Sergio Rademacher, Microsoft representative in our territory, indicated that it will be an investment plan for the next 5 years and is called “Transform Chile”.

The plan consists of four pillars, the main one being the installation of data centers, with a generation of income of US $ 11.3 billion and 51 thousand new jobs.

Likewise, training in digital skills will be contemplated for 180 thousand people, with a focus on business and entrepreneurship.

An advisory council will also be created to make the most of the firm’s initiatives in the country.

President Piñera appreciated Microsoft’s announcement, underlining that technology is essential for economic reactivation, job creation and entrepreneurship; and improve knowledge.

“Today the companies that are innovating are changing for the better (…). The vast majority of Chileans use the platform, products and innovations made by Microsoft that improve our lives, ”she commented.

Along these lines, he added that “today we are celebrating” the largest investment that the firm will make in its 28-year history in the country. “It will be a great boost to the creation of opportunities”, said the President, assessing that 51 thousand new jobs will be created.

“Today more than ever we have to become aware that we have to accelerate the pace of the technological revolution,” concluded Piñera.
