Michael J. Fox He has struggled with Parkinson’s for years but, despite the complications of that disease, the actor of Return to the future he has always tried to keep good spirits.
However, many times that is an uphill task and in a recent interview with People, the actor recounted what he described as his “darkest moment” due to that disease.
In 2018, after a risky operation to remove a non-cancerous tumor from his spine, Fox had to undergo physical therapy to walk again. But, as he had a hard time doing it, one day he fell in the kitchen of his house and broke his arm.
The actor used to be accompanied by his family, however, on that occasion he was alone at home because he had moved there for the purpose of filming a cameo in a Spike Lee movie.
“I just broke down. I was leaning against my kitchen wall, waiting for the ambulance to arrive, and I thought: ‘This is as low as I can.’ It was when I questioned everything “, Fox said. “It was like, ‘I can’t put a bright face on this. There is no silver lining to this, there are no advantages. This is just grief and pain. ‘
But luckily the actor managed to recover from that injury and was eventually able to regain his spirits.
“Optimism is really rooted in gratitude”, Fox commented. “Optimism is sustainable when you return to gratitude, and what follows is acceptance. Accepting that this has happened and accepting it for what it is. It doesn’t mean you can’t push yourself to change. It doesn’t mean you have to accept it as a punishment or a penance, just put it where it belongs. Then see how much you have to prosper in the rest of your life and then you can move on. “
