An earthquake of medium magnitude was registered during the night of this Saturday in the coasts of southern Peru, also being perceived in the Chilean region of Arica and Parinacota.
The earthquake at 11:16 p.m. had a magnitude of 5.6 with an epicenter 158 kilometers west of Ilo (city of Peru) and with a depth of 7.1 kilometers, according to the National Seismology Center.
At the moment, there have been no affected, infrastructure damage, or interruption to basic services due to this earthquake.
Furthermore, the SHOA indicated that “the characteristics of the earthquake do not meet the necessary conditions to generate a tsunami off the coast of Chile.”
