The government announced the start of a close collaboration of the mayors from the capital to the work that the Armed forces, this before the start of new quarantines that will total 25 communes under confinement before the advance of the coronavirus.
This was reported by the Defense Minister, Alberto Espina, who met this Friday with the government spokeswoman, Karla Rubilar; the head of national defense in the Metropolitan region, general Carlos Ricotti; the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Rodrigo Álvarez; and mayors of the Chilean Association of Municipalities such as Carolina Leitao (Peñalolén), Felipe Delpín (La Granja), Germán Codina (Puente Alto) and Raúl Torrealba (Vitacura).
Espina stressed that work between political authorities and the police and armed forces is essential to combat the advance of Covid-19.
In fact, he indicated that the success of pandemic control goes hand in hand with coordinated work that mayors have raised in various instances.
Therefore, he announced that they have been appointed officers who will serve as direct links with each of the mayors to receive daily opinions on where to carry out inspections to detect those who are not complying with sanitary measures.
Espina recalled that there are 14,500 members of the Armed Forces who carry out security work in the capital amid the pandemic and that yesterday they joined elite forces like the Army Black Berets.
He added that they will take place 760 mobile patrols and no longer fixed at the request of the mayors, because that facilitated the evasion of the controls that were carried out until today.
Quarantines
From this Friday at 22:00, quarantines will begin in Cerro Navia, Conchalí, La Cisterna, La Florida, La Granja, Lo Espejo, Lo Prado, Macul, Peñalolén, Renca, San Joaquín and San Miguel.
Further, High Bridge now it will have quarantine from the edge of the San Carlos channel towards the west; Saint Bernard it will be quarantined from Avenida San José to the north; and San Ramon and The Pintana they will now have total quarantine.
These measures are added to the quarantines of Santiago, Quinta Normal, Cerrillos, Recoleta, Independencia, Central Station, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Quilicura poniente and El Bosque.
