The mayor of San Bernardo, Leonel Cádiz, met the visit made by the Minister of National Assets, Julio Isamit and the head of the Sports portfolio, Cecilia Pérez, together with the head of the National Football Association (ANFP), Pablo Milad, to the terrain that he took advantage of to become the new “Juan Pinto Durán”. A sector located at the foot of Cerro Chena, which, although it belongs to the Treasury, is held by the Chilean Army under bailment.

In this regard, the communal chief recalled that “less than a month ago, in this office, in the mayor’s office of the commune of San Bernardo, the Chief of Staff of Minister Julio Isamit and the Seremi of National Assets of the Metropolitan Region were telling this mayor and this community that there was no project, that did not have an agreement with the ANFP and that it was only about the search for land ”.

So, he said, “Minister Isamit and the Ministry of National Assets have a problem with adherence to the truth.”

The mayor of Cádiz stressed that “Cerro Chena has an environmental and heritage vocation that we Sambernardinos have taken care of for decades. Now they come up with a project without consulting the community, without summoning them, without telling them what it is about, how much it will occupy, without respect and consideration for the memory site.

“On the hill of Cerro Chena – where Minister Isamit traveled today – Chileans were killed and tortured. The minister should explain to us how he is going to protect the memory site. The ANFP represents associated with a great business called professional soccer and, therefore, the minister has to tell Chileans whether the ANFP is giving him away or lending or buying a site that belongs to all Chileans, “he continued .

“That Minister Isamit tell us what business he has with football, that he explain it to the Sambernardinos and Sambernardinas,” he concluded.

“An infinite lack of respect”

This morning, the mayor of Cádiz met with the former mayor and candidate for governor of the Metropolitan Region, Claudio Orrego. After the appointment, the former authority valued the look that the communal chief has regarding the city to be reached: “More humane and fair.”

He also referred to the topic “Juan Pinto Durán”. “We spoke with the mayor of Cádiz about what was published in the press that says it is related to a project that has not been formally presented to the Municipality, which seems to us an infinite lack of respect, not only with the mayor but with the entire municipality of San Bernardo “Orrego commented.

In this sense, he said that “it is not that one is opposed to sports projects, however they must meet a minimum of citizen participation requirements. They believe that they can continue being patrons of the estate, announcing in the newspapers what is not discussed with the citizens ”.

“One does not enter through the window when they receive it in a house, one knocks on the door, asks, raises ideas and is willing to listen to alternatives. This is one more demonstration of the old Chile that we do not want and that we hope will change in some way. For this reason, I support the objections made by the mayor of Cádiz that are not related to the way in which the initiative is being presented ”, he continued.
