As El Día had warned in its edition on Thursday, March 23, the municipality of Coquimbo analyzed several weeks ago the suspension of the traditional Pampilla, information that was ratified Wednesday.

Through his Twitter account, the mayor of the port, Marcelo Pereira, explained that together with the council they made the decision to cancel the historic Fiestas Patrias event due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The measure responds to “the need to allocate the necessary resources to our communities and primary health care,” argued the mayor on the social network.
