The 12 Mapuche community members who were on a hunger strike in the Lebu prison, Bío Bío region, they postponed the mobilization after not reaching an agreement with the government.
As confirmed by spokespersons, the last rapprochement occurred last weekend. Instance in which the Executive has promised to initiate intercultural dialogues.
However, they assured that these measures lacked representativeness of those who were mobilized, so the strike was finally deposed.
Meanwhile, during this day, the Bío Bío Regional Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation by possible illegitimate pressure against the strikers, and that they were allegedly committed by prison officials.
It should be noted that this Wednesday, three Mapuche community members also called off their hunger strikes in the Temuco prison.
