Mapuche child is shot by strangers in Collipulli

A 12-year-old Mapuche boy belonging to Lof Wente Winkul Mapu, who was with his family in a land in recovery, in the Curaco sector in the Collipulli commune, he was hit by a firearm fired by unknown persons from route R-49.

According to witnesses to the event the shots were perpetrated from a Hyundai brand vehicle, who repeatedly targeted the people who were at the scene, and receiving one of it the minor.

The victim is being rushed to the Temuco hospital due to the severity of his injury, which is why the Malleco communities remain on high alert. His prognosis is reserved.

The Governor of Malleco, Juan Carlos Beltrán, he said – unofficially – that this would have happened after 11 pm, and that “the safest thing” is for the PDI to be in charge of the procedure. In addition to confirming the information of the injured minor, although, he pointed out that “everything will be clearer tomorrow.”

It is not clear where the event in which he was injured occurred, or under what circumstances. The youngest is the son of the community member Juan Pablo licán ñanco, from the Wente Wincul Mapu community, who until yesterday had taken Fundo Nahuel and had moved to a new outlet at the Fundo next door, which belongs to a forest.
