The former Minister of Health, Jaime Mañalich, arrived this Sunday afternoon to vote in Las Condes, an occasion on which he referred to the Plebiscite and the struggle between the Government and the Prosecutor’s Office to release the internal emails of the portfolio.

Regarding the historic electoral process, Mañalich said that it is “necessary to renew our commitment to peace and a new Constitution.”

Consulted by the investigations carried out by the Public Ministry, after the complaint filed against him by Alejandro Navarro and Daniel Jadue, he explained that asked to anticipate his statement “as soon as possible.”

“My lawyer has reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office and that statement should be produced in the next few days,” he said.

As he commented, it is still unknown whether he will give testimony in person or in writing, although he assured that he would like to attend the diligence in person.

It also pointed out that “The emails that I remember (…) rather tend to show all the effort that all the people of the Ministry of Health made at the beginning of this tremendous challenge for the world, such as the covid epidemic ”.

Along these lines, he said he is “very calm” and that he hopes that the way in which the Prosecutor’s Office has those emails available will be resolved “in the best way.”

“From what I remember, there is clear evidence of the concern and dedication, not only mine, but of all the actors of the ministry to carry out a unique task in a century”, he sentenced.
