Brent Underwood, an American entrepreneur, bought in 2018 an abandoned mining town called Cerro Gordo, which is located three hours from Los Angeles in California.
His idea is to turn the place into a tourist site, considering that the place was an important plant mine in the 19th century, from which the inhabitants left when the mineral ran out.
However, his plans changed after the coronavirus pandemic, since he relieved the caregiver he had hired from the place and decided to go live there to overcome the crisis.
“I moved to Cerro Gordo in March 2020 due to the pandemic and to relieve our caregiver so that he could return home. I have been here since then,” he said in the description of his YouTube channel Ghost Town Living.
The man said he has no plans to return to civilization in the near future, as he spends his days restoring the city, sharing with the four goats that live in the area and making arrangements. For example, the water supply was restored after 15 years of not working.
While at the scene, the 32-year-old offers monthly subscriptions on Patreon to access exclusive material from the town, live chats and additional videos, as well as the possibility of taking a future excursion to the town.
