A man died after falling from an eighth floor inside a building located in Viña del Mar.

The incident occurred after police personnel arrived at the home he shared with his partner, who had reported him for alleged repeated domestic violence.

While the police were interviewing the alleged victim, the man tried to escape arrest by descending from internal balconies of the building, at which point it fell crashingly.

The death was confirmed by the public prosecutor on duty from the garden city, Carolina Monsalve, who indicated that “the accused threw himself from an eighth floor, resulting in serious injuries, dying later in the hospital despite medical efforts to save his life ”.

From the Carabineros they added that on previous occasions, the neighbors had heard attacks inside the building and there was already a complaint for acts of violence, held in the city of Santiago.

This was confirmed by Captain Gustavo Figueroa, from the Viña del Mar First Police Station.

A neighbor who was in the place added that a lot of noise was heard, but that she did not know any further information.

According to the provisions of the Local Prosecutor’s Office, the proceedings and expertise will be in charge of the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police.
