Two new positive patients for covid-19 were transferred from the Magallanes region to the capital, totaling 47 people who have arrived from that region in the last 40 days.
56 and 64 year olds from the city of Punta Arenas and who were hospitalized at the Magallanes Clinical Hospital, which due to the number of patients and the high levels of infections in the area for more than 4 weeks, are part of these operations to decongest the hospitals in the extreme south.
Operation that ended on Wednesday night at the Santiago international airport, where two ambulance planes landed with patients encapsulated in mobile critical stretchers to avoid the contagion of medical personnel on board. Transfer that was later made to the Metropolitan Hospital and the Hospital del Trabajador.
The undersecretary of assistance networks, Arturo Zúñiga, stressed the concern of the high levels of contagion in the area, which would be a consequence of the high mobility and the issuance of temporary unique permits.
During the course of the this Thursday another 4 patients are expected to be transferred from Punta Arenas to the Metropolitan region, due to the activation of the integrated covid network, which seeks to reduce the critical situation that healthcare facilities in the extreme south of our country are currently experiencing.
