Precisely Paty Manterola, Ortiz’s wife between 1999 and 2004, said goodbye today with an emotional message: “You are already in the arms of your beautiful mommy whom you missed so much … From here I hug your family very very tightly,” he said.

Before becoming a recognized name in the Mexican show business, Xavier Ortiz was a dental surgeon who became modeling – as his presentation at the Viña del Mar Festival in 1993 recalls him – to later delve into music, television and even cinema.

Died yesterday at the age of 48, Ortiz participated in telenovelas such as Duel of passions, A hook to the heart and The rose of Guadalupe.

In cinema, he starred with Garibaldi in the film Where was the ball, in the early 90’s. He also appeared in more recent films such as Dangerous temptation (2008) and in 2004 he was remembered for giving life to the Bugambilia in Adventuress, play produced by Carmen Salinas.

Father of an 8-year-old boy, Xavier Ortiz was married for the last five years to Carissa de León, who was in the middle of a divorce process as revealed by El Heraldo de México.

The media stressed that in April of this year, just in the first days of the quarantine in Mexico, the actor assured that the health contingency passed without company and without being able to see his young son since, for security reasons, the minor was he had been meeting his ex-wife.

According to the Mexican newspaper, “De León and Ortiz were in the process of a divorce when the artist passed away, in the midst of a depression that he revealed in some interviews he gave to the media, where you could see that his emotional and mental situation complicated, mainly due to their separation and isolation forced by the pandemic ”.

In 2011, Xavier Ortiz had an accident while riding his motorcycle that led him to intensive care. According to El Universal de México, the actor underwent two operations on his left leg and had to take rehabilitation therapy to regain his mobility.

After the incident, Ortiz had financial problems, so some of his colleagues joined in to raise money.

The same media cites the actress Carmen Salinas, who would have commented months after the accident that the former Garibaldi still had debts due to hospitalization.

This year, in the midst of the health crisis caused by the coronavirus, the former Garibaldi found himself in the need to sell face masks, as he himself told in an interview for the show program Ventaneando.

“There are no events, you can’t get people together,” Ortiz said there, “so what I’m doing is getting into this rebatinga of face masks and antibacterial gel and gloves and all the medical team trying, through the foundations, to get suppliers and make a little money ”.

So far the causes of his death have not been revealed.
