This morning The first 10,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories arrived in the country.
Upon arrival in Chile, the doses were transferred to the Perilogistics laboratory in the Macul commune to store them at the required temperature of -70ºC. From there, a quantity of the vaccines were sent to begin the inoculation of the medical personnel of three hospitals chosen to begin this process: The Metropolitan Hospital, the Central Post Office and the San José Hospital.
Tomorrow, the vaccines will be transferred to the regions of Biobío, Araucanía and Magallanes in order to start the inoculation process there.
Around 11:00 am today, the vaccines arrived at the Metropolitan Hospital, where the inoculation process began for five health officials who are in charge of patients in intensive care units, thus giving the starting point to the vaccination process against the coronavirus in the country. In the place was President Sebastián Piñera, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, together with the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza and of Healthcare Networks, Alberto Dougnac.
The first person to be vaccinated in the country was Zulema Riquelme, TENS of the Sótero del Río Hospital more than 26 years ago, who at the time of receiving the vaccine said she was “happy, calm and nervous.”
After her they received the inoculation a doctor, a nurse, a respiratory trainer, and a service aide.
It should be noted that this is the first dose of the vaccine, and in 21 days they must be vaccinated again with a second dose.
