“Destroy the logic of the system in our hearts.” Thus read the light message projected in a circle around the monument to General Manuel Baquedano in the heart of the capital, this Thursday night.

The so-called Star of Arauco (Guñelve), a traditional Mapuche symbol, was also projected in the place with blue lights.

The intervention was recorded and broadcast live on Galería Cima’s YouTube channel.

It was a demonstration similar to those carried out by the Delight Lab art collective, known for its interventions in the Telefónica tower building.

Both groups generated the intervention within the framework of the Barrio Arte Visual Arts Week, activity from September 22 to 29, which It is developed within the framework of the project funded by the Program for Strengthening Cultural Organizations, call 2019, of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage.

According to the event’s schedule at 7.30pm this Thursday, a “Light Action of the Delight Lab Collective”, to be broadcast on the Youtube and Instagram channels of Galería Cima.

“Andrea and Octavio Gana make up the Delight Lab collective. Their experimentation focuses on light as a tool for spatial and social intervention, through the application of videomapping on architecture and landscape. Their interventions have highlighted sensitive issues such as hunger and the treatment of indigenous peoples, ”says the program.

After 8:40 p.m., a police patrol arrived at the roundabout and arranged a spotlight in the direction of the lights to avoid the projection.

According to reports from the uniformed police, the projections were made sporadically from a building in Vicuña Mackenna by five individuals. Upon verifying the police presence, when uniformed officers arrived to verify the procedure, those responsible turned off the lights.
