The little girl used the same disguise that her brother used, Matteo Akoskin, who passed away in 2018 due to a long-standing genetic disease called leukodystrophy.

The book about his son
Almost two years after the death of the child, the actress published his first book dedicated to his first-born, entitled “Go to heaven and back: My way with Matteo”.

Little Matteo maintained a delicate state of health as a result of various complications derived from his disease, Leukodystrophy AGS, due to an acute anemia that caused other problems in his body.
After a string of hospitalizations, blood transfusions, treatments and the placement of a gastric tube to gain weight, the child died in the United States, Varela’s country of residence.
“The need was born from a survival drive, I needed to vent, collect my thoughts, process having a child with such a disease and writing is a place of contention, “he said.
