During the afternoon of this Friday, Patricio Olivares, lawyer representing Ámbar Cornejo’s father, spoke in Could be Worse on the recent background to the case and the alleged involvement of the young woman’s mother – who was today sentenced to preventive detention – Denisse Llanos, in the homicide.
As he pointed out, the precautionary preventive detention of the mother was “a ‘chronicle of an announced death’ for the accused because from the first day we had a history of his participation and because of this the Public Ministry was able to form the conviction of the antecedents that we provided for him, the investigative lines that we also proposed in relation to the proceedings that we asked of them ”.
“Today we have a quite satisfactory result, both of them are behind bars awaiting trial”added.
Along these lines, he mentioned: “It turns out that obviously this type of crime and given experience (…), the first statement made by Mrs. Denisse Llanos in the tenor of the homicide investigation is striking.”
“It provides many details that are revealing that allowed us to find the whereabouts of the victim’s body, but also many information that made us doubt his non-participation in the events, which is why this investigation is initiated and the Public Ministry manages to convince (…) that she is the author and not a witness, ”he added.
Likewise, he indicated that “given the experience in investigating this type of incident, it is clearly the line of argument that makes us presume at first that she clearly had a kind of prior concept with the accused, and that clearly both of them jointly commit the homicide “.
Regarding the penalties pursued by the defense, he pointed out “that they are 40 effective years. It is said effective because it is the minimum that they must meet in jail to be able to access some type of extra prison benefit ”.
Asked about Ámbar’s mobile, He explained that “the phone was found on the ceiling wrapped in aluminum foil.”
