Rendón also pointed to Cooperative that “when any citizen violates the health regulations that are established to try to reduce the levels of contagion in the context of the pandemic, he receives a sanction. Part of the complaint states that “on Saturday, December 5, 2020, around 6:00 p.m., the defendant Piñera Echeñique was seen on the beach of Cachagua, Zapallar commune, accompanied by security personnel attached to the Presidency of the Republic. , without using a mask and without respecting the physical distancing with the rest of the people“.
The president is charged with the crime “contemplated in article 318 of the Penal Code, that is, generation of risk of contagion in times of a pandemic due to a violation of an order from a health authority“.
“Anyone who endangers public health by violation of hygiene or health rules, duly published by the authority, in time of catastrophe, epidemic or contagion, will be punished with minor imprisonment in its minimum degree mid or fine of six to two hundred monthly tax units“adds the text.
