Felipe Bianchi: “Karen with Mauriziano always at the university. That’s true?”
Karen Doggenweiler: “Yes. With Mario, Mariolino, I have been dating for about ten years with several intermittences since I was a girl, at school, all my life. And I have the most beautiful memories of him, of his family, this from school, the Stadio Italiano, going to the water polo matches. I had an amazing time and he’s a tremendous friend to this day.
“My sister used to play with her cousin, Giancarlito Mauriziano. Lifetime. To this day I have immense affection for Mariolino, I have immense affection for his entire family, for Gianfranco, for Salomé, for his mother. I promise you it is one of those families … It is that Italians are achoclonados.
“And I also got this generation from the Scuola where there are some of our teachers who, after the war, the boyfriends came and married or with younger girls or did not return. So many came to America to do classes and they were great, like our mothers. We live like a cool little bubble, in a good way, of affection, protection, love.
“And Mario’s mother was my mother. We made the passata, the tomato room, we bottled it. A very close, very close relationship. I always have the most beautiful memories and words for them and their family ”.
