The Concepción Court of Appeals ruled in favor of a group of inhabitants of Isla Mocha who presented a protection appeal to prevent the arrival of continental visitors to the island territory who want to witness the total eclipse of the sun on Monday.
There were about 200 people who appealed to the Justice so that this will decree the total prohibition of entry. Specifically, they went on alert because Lebu, the commune to which they belong, is in phase 2 of the Step by Step Plan.
This measure authorizes the movements of people within a specific area during the week.
That was what generated the residents’ concern, mainly because the Island does not have a more complex health infrastructure to face the pandemic and the outbreak that could generate the massive arrival of people.
With the resolution of the Justice, military and police personnel and inspections in land, sea and air terminals will ensure that no one from continental Chile travels to the island to see the astronomical phenomenon, where it will be total.
