Julio Videla, one of the greatest emblems of the golden era of Chilean radio and television, passed away this morning as he learned Third with sources close to its surroundings. The causes are still unknown, although everything would point to an accident in the place where he resided.
The famous 76-year-old communicator was in Viña del Mar, where he moved to spend these months of confinement as a result of the pandemic. His biography on Wikipedia already updated his date of death, reporting it for today.
As an announcer, Videla began his work at Radio Carrera at the end of the 60s: the beginning of an extensive career in this field, working in stations such as Radio Portales, Radio Chilena, Radio Romance, Radio Para Ti and Radio Cooperativa, where he the program Your years count until the beginning of 2019.
On the small screen he debuted in the early 70s on Channel 13, with programs such as Student championship Y The court of laughter, and he was part of the animators who participated in the first Telethon in 1978. Then he moved to Channel 11, now CHV, where he hosted the program Cordially.
One of its biggest television spaces was the program Come with me of Mega, in the 90s, which even had a space derived at the time of the Viña Festival under the name Join me at the Festival in years where Mega was the official channel of the contest.
There he imposed his style on the screen: although part of the generation of old-school television faces, more formal and traditional, he was always able to balance humor, spark and closeness with viewers. In this, his luck in tandem with Los Cariñositos, the musical support he had in the Cordialmente and Acompáñeme spaces, appears among his most remembered milestones.
One of his last television projects was the program With you, from Canal 13, broadcast between 2002 and 2004.
