“The validity of Human Rights is universal in nature and for the same reason I condemn any type of violation wherever it is and wherever it comes from.”
This paragraph was part of the opinion column he published today the mayor Recoleta and a member of the Communist Party (PC), Daniel Jadue, in Radio Cooperativa, in which he addresses the lapidary UN report on the situation in Venezuela.
The communal chief assured that the document issued by the office of the UN High Commissioner that denounces human rights violations in the country led by Nicolás Maduro “It has unleashed a fever of double standards and opportunism in our country that draws deep attention.”
Jadue’s opinion on this matter had been expected during these days; even more so after the weekend the PC issued a statement where they criticized the UN report. In fact, the mayor He had been summoned by different sectors, including the government, to make his opinion known.
This since Jadue in the latest polls He has emerged as the best card of the opposition to compete as a presidential candidate and face the eventual card of the right, his counterpart from Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín (UDI).
For the mayor of Recoleta, the “fever of double standards and opportunism” has manifested itself “above all in some sectors of the Chilean political arc, truly hyperopic, who have not hesitated for a second to condemn the human rights violations there in Venezuela, thousands of kilometers away, but who until now have not been able to condemn the systematic and flagrant violations of human rights, here in Chile, and indicated by various international organizations ”.
In Jadue’s opinion “no one can doubt about the responsibility of States and governments. But This very complex issue should be, in the same way, away from any attempt to use the victims’ pain politically by those who are capable of seeing the straw in another’s eye without being able to see the beam they have in their own ”.
In that sense he added that “It is worth noting that the same government of Venezuela, unlike other governments in the region, has recognized the human rights violations committed in its territory and has therefore agreed to install a Permanent Mission of the High Commissioner to UN Human Rights in that country, which has recently renewed its mandate and its joint work with the government to accompany the process of overcoming the serious crisis that the Caribbean country has been experiencing for years ”.
The communist militant also assured that “With the same force, I condemn the human rights violations that have been taking place for decades in Colombia, in Palestine, in the Sahara and in recent months in Bolivia since the coup d’état against the legitimate government of Evo Morales, places that seem to be invisible to many of those who point us out today ”.
“For the same, I salute the work carried out by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, as it stipulates the correct path, represented by the dialogue between the government and the democratic opposition, by the call for legislative elections for December 6 and the pardon of more than one hundred prisoners who they remained in prisons, waiting for the foreign intervention and illegal sanctions to end sooner rather than later and for Venezuelans to resolve their problems peacefully and away from any confrontation, “he added.
Finally Jadue made a call “To all and all Chilean political actors to focus their efforts on solving the human rights violations that occur in Chile, to fight for truth, justice, reparation and the memory of all the victims of the crimes committed in dictatorship and also in the current government ”.
“We have a challenge as a country, and it is much more urgent and necessary than pretending to become judges of other countries with as many or more problems than ourselves”he added.
“This government already made that mistake at the beginning of this period and we know what it led to. It is not reasonable that the Chilean authorities are so executive to see the problems in other latitudes, while they stop attending to the basic needs, the pains and the anguish of our people, which is really the first thing that should unite us “, the mayor of Recoleta closed.
