The MP Giorgio Jackson said he will continue to “donate” a percentage of his parliamentary diet to the Democratic Revolution (RD) and accused a “misrepresentation” of the agreement amid the controversy that the party faces after the former militant, Renato Garín, accused his former colleagues of the caucus of allocating a percentage of their diets to “a bank savings that already amounts to hundreds of millions”.
The alarms on the bench went off immediately after the publication, which occurred in the middle of a key day for the project to cut legislators’ income by 50%. An initiative that Jackson has been promoting for some years.
In conversation with The Cooperative Journal, the deputy held that “this is something that since 2014 I have put, not only on my website explicitly, but I have said it more than 14 times in interviews, whether on radio, television and the written press. ”
Regarding the complaint made by Deputy Garín, Jackson stated that “I do not feel attacked at all, the only thing I feel is that there is a misrepresentation, like those fireworks that you want to do when you want to divert attention. I feel very proud, I would do it a thousand times more ”.
“All the times they asked me ‘What are you doing with these resources?’, I said explicitly, without any qualification, that I gave it to a collective project, because I did not like it to be financed with companies and with tricky contributions that existed in politics ”he insisted.
The MP also acknowledged that only once did he use the word “donation.”There was only one time that I was interrupted in a panel on television, where I said the word ‘dona’ simply, that it was in Vertigo and that was the only time that I could leave the space to doubts (…) I could be clearer ”he related.
“I have nothing to hide and I will continue to do so, for other candidacies, whether municipal or otherwise, because I at least do not finance myself with those resources,” concluded the deputy.
