The former leader of the Manuel Rodríguez Patriotic Front (FMPR), Mauricio Hernández Norambuena, gave an interview this Monday from the High Security Prison (CAS), where he is serving two sentences of 15 years and one day in prison, one of them for the murder of the founder of the UDI, former senator Jaime Guzmán.
In the interview given to the RED program True Lies, Hernández told about the decision to assassinate Guzmán, acknowledging that it was a political error, but that it was justified from the ethical point of view of the organization.
“I consider that it was a political mistake, because it did not contribute to our policy of placing that wedge on the subject of human rights, but I consider that it was a fair operation, from an ethical point of view, because of what he meant and his connection to human rights violations, “he said.
Along the same lines, he indicated that the leadership of the Front established the execution of several persons involved with human rights violations, as was the case with Guzmán and that they also had Álvaro Corvalán and Fernando Torres among their objectives.
In this way, Hernández explains that among the objectives there were “several generals of the Army, of the DINA, the (military attorney Fernando) Torres, there was (the former CNI operative chief, Álvaro) Corvalán. There were some civilians, like (former Interior Minister) Sergio Fernández and Jaime Guzmán. Guzmán’s execution (in 1991) was carried out within this framework ”.
“That decision was because we already knew what ‘justice as far as possible’ was, because it seemed a shame to usIt was already deciding on impunity, and we did not accept it. Within this campaign the name of Jaime Guzmán is placed as one of the objectives within a series of other names ”, justified the ‘commander Ramiro’.
The interview given by Hernández Norambuena, occurs two weeks after the Seventh Guarantee Court of Santiago admitted to processing a complaint for torture filed by the former member of the FPMR, against the gendarmes in charge of his custody who are responsible for the aforementioned crime. .
