The president of the Christian Democracy, Fuad Chahín, defended himself this Monday from the accusations that arose against the former Concertación parties, who would have determined to get out of the citizen primaries that would be held in Ñuñoa together with the Broad Front to leave as a candidate for the Chahín himself.

Through a statement, the Democratic Revolution (RD) indicated that there was an agreement between the latter conglomerate and the Socialist Party, the PPD, the Radical Party and the DC (which today form the Constituent Unit pact) to hold primaries for the commune that is today in the hands of the right with Mayor Andrés Zarhi.

The elections were to be held on December 20 and the process would be launched last Thursday. However, the event was canceled because “the option of handing over the quota to the president of the Christian Democracy, Fuad Chahín, without going through primaries,” would have been imposed.

Thus the things, the leader of the Christian Democracy said that it seems to him “not only unfair but of an enormous double standard”.

As he pointed out, “it is not defined that the Ñuñoa commune is for a specific party, much less for a particular candidate.”

Along these lines, he assured that he was open to negotiations, although with conditions: “It took me five minutes to sign an agreement to have primaries in Ñuñoa, but also in all the other communes in which the Christian Democracy has wanted to participate and the other parties have said that they are not available to have primaries ”.

The commune of discord was not part of the Constituent Unit agreement for conventional primaries in 85 communes of the country, despite the fact that there was an informal agreement to carry out the citizen consultation, where there were already candidates from the DC to the Broad Front, and where there were no The name of the former deputy was listed.

The socialist deputy for Ñuñoa, Maya Fernández, claimed that it is not possible to carry out a policy of transformation with the back to the territories. He insisted that a citizen primary should be held, questioning that the Constituent Unit was unaware of an agreement that already existed.

The president of the Democratic Revolution, Catalina Pérez, regretted that the Constituent Unit appointed candidates in some communes where they proposed citizen measurements.

In the rest of the Constituent Unit they confirm that there is no decision on Ñuñoa and that this week they hope to settle what will happen there and in other communes that were pending in the agreement of 85 citizen primaries announced last week.
