After three weeks of arduous work this Tuesday, the mecano bridge was installed, which temporarily replaces the former Perales bridge in Talcahuano, damaged on November 18 by a 14-ton mechanical shovel that was transporting a truck.
Regional authorities and the Buenos Aires commune gave the go to the installation of the 45-ton metal structure, 36.6 meters long and 3.5 meters wide that will allow the passage of light vehicles and buses in the next few hours.
The mayor of Talcahuano, Henry Campos, positively valued the work done in record time to install the emergency infrastructure that provides a solution to the inhabitants and visitors of the commune.
“The idea is to advance in the replacement of the Perales bridge. The initial thing is to do the design as soon as possible and try to enter it in the investment portfolio of the second half of 2021. If that is specified we can have a bridge in 2022 “, he assured Mayor Campos.
For its part, the seremi de Obras Públicas Victor Reinoso noted that “We are working full time to deliver as soon as possible the use of the mecano bridge, as well as the release of the low-level crossing ”.
Likewise, the mayor of the Biobío region highlighted the coordinated work between the Serviu, MOP, the Municipality of Talcahuano and a private company to replace the structure that will allow the opening of the path that communicates Talcahuano with the other communes.
“This will allow us this week to open the route between Concepción, Talcahuano, highway and what corresponds to the Colón axis, so it is very good news for all the inhabitants of Concepción and Talcahuano ”, said Mayor Khun.
