He National Statistics Institute (INE) reported that the start of the Population and Housing Census scheduled for April 2022 was postponed for March 2023, due to the problems that the pandemic caused in the preparations that had to be made this year.
He INE explained that the preparation of a census requires the completion of a series of activities and successive technical tests, both to define and adjust the way of approaching the population, such as the operation of the questionnaire, technology, data quality, among other aspects.
Said activities – he added – culminate with the realization of an experimental census, which It is a general test of the operation of the systems and procedures of registration, processing and dissemination.
“Due to the effect of covid-19, the preparation activities planned for 2020 could not be carried out or had to be reformulated which generated modifications both this year and in 2021, which prevents maintaining the census collection for 2022“, declared the INE.
