The man who swas the author of the fire that destroyed two houses in the Los Molinos de Valdivia sector.
The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the accused traveled from Santiago, in breach of a precautionary measure, to set fire to the home of his former partner.
It is the hearing to control the detention and formalization of Nicolás Patricio Varela Jiménez (31) for his alleged participation in the fire that occurred in the Camino El Estero sector of the coastal town of Valdivia.
The deputy prosecutor of Valdivia, Pierre Neire, indicated that the subject traveled from Santiago to attend the home of his former partner on December 31.
At the time, the defendant snatched the keys to his house, however, the woman managed to recover them and expelled the defendant from his property.
It adds that at dawn on January 1, the accused goes to the victim’s home, at which point he sets fire to the house and destroys the entirety of the victim’s property.
The persecutor confirmed that the man maintains another previous cause and failed to comply with the precautionary measures of night house arrest.
The prosecutor explained that the Guarantee Court determined as a precautionary measure the preventive detention for the accused.
The man is considerate a danger to the safety of society and a 100-day investigation period was set.
