Finally, Blanco y Negro did not reach an agreement with the players to achieve a salary readjustment that would allow them to sustain the economic impact that the stoppage of activity due to the coronavirus will generate.
The main point where they did not agree was in the return of their remuneration. Blanco y Negro offered to return half and they could only access more with fundraising events.
Although the campus agreed to participate in activities, they want the full refund of what they will stop receiving while facing the crisis.
Harold Mayne-Nicholls summarized the proposal they made to the campus at the press conference they offered today at the Monumental Stadium:
– Do not fire anyone
– Those who earn less than a million pesos a month will not have a discount from their salary.
– Salaries between 1 and 2 million pesos will have a reduction of 30% of their remuneration, with a return of 15% next year.
– Salaries between 2.5 and 7.5 million pesos will have a 40% discount, with a 20% refund next year
– Those who earn over 7.5 million pesos will have a 50% discount, with a return of 25% in 2021.
– The option of greater refunds was opened from events to raise funds in the period 2020-2022. Those would be five friendlies, three year-end dinners and two anniversary lunches.
This was requested by the Players according to their statement:
– Temporary reduction of salaries, but 100% restored in 2021 (and as of December 2020 in the case of players who end their contract).
– Those who earn 4 million or less without a discount.
– From 4 to 7 million a 30% discount
– From 7 million upwards a 40% readjustment.
– That the discounts were in force during May, June, July and August.
– From September onwards, when soccer is forecast to return, take up a full salary.
– They committed their participation in the suggested activities.
