After days of rumors, Ignacio Briones finalized his departure from the Government on Tuesday to start his presidential candidacy for Evópoli.
In his replacement, as leader of the Treasury portfolio, the President appointed Rodrigo Cerda Norambuena, a commercial engineer who served between March 2018 and December 2019 as Director of Budgets in the government of Sebastián Piñera.
Briones formalized his departure amid a recent rise in support in the polls, as the Cadem showed on Monday, where his approval went up 9 points in relation to the previous survey.
Counting like this, in contrast to other pro-government candidates, with 41% approval in their political performance, according to the same survey.
Change in the Undersecretariat for Women
In the same instance, the President appointed María José Abud as new undersecretary of the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity, replacing Carolina Cuevas who recently assumed the Presidency of the National Television Council.
Cuevas headed the Undersecretariat for 3 years. Meanwhile, Abud, since March 2018, served as head of the Studies Division of the aforementioned ministry.
