On Thursday night part of the statement was released before the justice of Martin Pradenas, accused of raping and sexually abusing Antonia Barra, on September 18, 2019 in Temuco, in a case that has impacted Chile after the suicide of the victim.
In addition to the statement before the court, the Special Report sent a questionnaire to Pradenas about the case, which was answered by the young man, who denied feeling responsible for the death of Antonia Barra and for having raped her.
“I did not rape her and I never hurt her. I declare myself totally innocent “he said in the statement, read on camera by his father.
Regarding the video where both of them and her are seen in an obvious state of drunkenness and with little control over her body, she assured that she does not prove anything.
“We were both under the influence of alcohol. It is seen that we kiss, caress, hug, laugh and we go together holding hands. Two people passed us. She never expressed fear and never felt the need to defend herself (…) There was never any harm on my part, ”she said.
But in court, Pradenas gave another detail and implies that Antonia Barra refused to have sexual relations in the interrogation before the Prosecutor’s Office and a PDI commissioner.
Pradenas: “Antonia kind of put a bit of a pause on the matter, of course no, no, no, no …”

At the end of the episode, the defendant reiterates his innocence and, regarding Antonia’s suicide, maintains that she may have felt guilty for having been unfaithful with him to her partner Rodrigo Canario.
“I think he felt guilty for his infidelity or for venturing with a person for one night, I want to reiterate that after the accusations I declare myself completely innocent and I hope that justice will be done ”, declares Pradenas.
