A hard case showed this Sunday the stellar Against all odds, in which a couple had to marry almost “against time”, because the bride would go blind in the short term due to diabetes that had worsened.

The bride and groom were Virginia and Jorge. The first a Peruvian woman who arrived in Chile 10 years ago and currently suffers from a disease that even forced her to be amputated half of a foot, while the boyfriend was a driver of intercity buses in the Metropolitan Region.

However, the hardest situation in the chapter was the mother of the man, Sonia, who revealed xenophobic comments against his daughter-in-law, which were heard by her and the animator Francisco Saavedra.

In a conversation between mother and son, the woman made comments such as: “You know that I do not pass it on to her, one because she is Peruvian … because she is not the same as one”, “She is not a woman to give you a child, because she has lost two, and she will never be”, “Actually I have a bad feeling, I do not pass it.”

All these sayings were repudiated by Saavedra himself, who at first even argued that the woman should not be invited to the marriage.

“I have never heard anything so harsh, so humiliating and so painful in my life. I have no idea how we’re going to go through with this story. We are willing to continue, but I do not know if a woman like that, who denigrates in that way, is worth being on that important day, “he said.

Without going any further, both had a conversation in a square, in which Sonia acknowledged the mistreatment she had had with her daughter-in-law, although she did not show regret.

On the other hand, from the program they even made a montage, in which the singer José Alfredo Fuentes, Idol of women, he talked with her to try to change his attitude.

Precisely in that conversation, the woman recognized that she had had bad treatment with Virginia, giving the opportunity to have a conversation with her, to reconcile.

Finally, Sonia put her prejudices aside and agreed to attend the marriage that they both performed at the end of the episode.

Also, the young woman received great news from an ophthalmologist named Michel Mehech, who told her that they could save the vision of one of her eyes, which left the story with a happy ending.
