You can always give different uses to an old cell phone that is lying in a drawer in your house. This time, a Reddit user published a tutorial to use the worn phone as a Windows 10 system monitor.
The idea comes from the r / pcmasterrace subreddit. There this person shared a photo of his tower inside which he had introduced an old Android mobile to use as a resource monitor.
The step by step
- The first thing you should do is download the Remote System Monitor app.
- Windows computer and mobile device must be connected to the same WiFi network. This cannot be used if you have the PC connected only through the network cable.
- Once you have installed both the server app for Windows and the mobile, make sure you are connected to the same network and launch the app for Windows. Then open your app on mobile and it should find your computer automatically.
- You will have to set a password.
- I set the phone display to always be on and ran a USB through the case to a USB port.
- It can then be inserted as in the user photo between the side panel and the power supply cabinet.

How performance looks with Windows Task Manager
- The first thing you have to do is open the Task Manager tool. You can do this in three ways: by looking for it in the start menu, in the menu options that appear when you press Control + Alt + Delete, or by pressing Control + Shift + Escape to open it directly. If it does not come out directly, then search in “More details”.
- When you enter the full administrator view, you only have to click on the Performance tab that you have at the top. You will enter the performance viewer, where you can see the evolution of the use of the CPU, RAM, hard drives of your computer, your connection and the graphics you have installed.
