The movements in the UDI continue. After Víctor Pérez was announced as a candidate for the party’s presidency due to the impossibility of Pablo Longueira, this Friday there was another surprise: María José Hoffmann left the dispute and deputy Javier Macaya will go in his place.

“The UDI must be filled with energy and strength to face the challenges that come; our party cannot endure any more divisions, that is why we are committed to unity; the leadership of the UDI is not about one person, that is why we are presenting a powerful team “, said the current head of the UDI bench in the Lower House, through a letter.

“The facts say more than a thousand speeches, that is why I wanted to crystallize this proposal for unity and team in a concrete gesture: I have asked Javier Macaya to lead this
new process, “he continued.

It should be remembered that Hoffmann herself had expressed her desire to become the successor to Jaqueline van Rysselberghe in the presidency of the community founded by Jaime Guzmán.

However, with his resignation and the aforementioned Longueira, the dispute over the reins of unionism will remain between the recently resigned Minister of the Interior Víctor Pérez and the deputy for the Sixth Region Javier Macaya.
