The state of health of the former Argentine president, Carlos Menem, has worsened after suffering a “cardiac episode” while he was admitted for a urinary infection, as confirmed in recent hours by his daughter.

His daughter, Zulema Menem, has said on Radio Miter that the former president is “better” after the episode, but previously on Twitter he had assured that the family “entrusted themselves to Almighty God.”

According to sources from the local newspaper ‘Clarín’, the former president’s health is “delicate.”

Former president was hospitalized twice

Menem, currently 90 years old, presided over Argentina between 1989 and 1999 and has been admitted twice more so far in 2020: for pneumonia and for low oxygen saturation.

The former president is still a senator for his province, La Rioja, and his daughter assured that he hopes he can participate remotely in the Senate session on December 29 when the legalization of abortion will be voted, a project that Carlos Menem opposes .

Meanwhile, in the former president’s family environment, they maintain that the patriarch “is not out of danger yet.”
