The BBC, aware of the accusations, launched an independent investigation to find out how its journalist, accused of falsifying documents, obtained the so-called “interview of the century” in 1995. This, after Lady Di’s brother, Count Charles spencer, accused Bashir of having forged documents to convince his sister.
Also, a new Channel 4 documentary titled Diana’s interview: the truth behind the scandal, adds that the journalist even told the princess that the security forces they were planning to murder her.
