More than 25 years have passed since Diana spencer gave an interview to the BBC and, in recent months, it became known that the journalist who was in charge, Martin Bashir, would have coerced her into accessing the conversation in which they spoke about the infidelity of the Prince carlos. Hasnat Khan, ex-partner of Lady Di, broke the silence regarding the episode and assured that the professional “filled his head with garbage.”

Let us remember that Princess Diana married the son of Queen Elizabeth II in July 1981, although 11 years later their separation was announced amid accusations of infidelity with Camilla Parker Bowles. After that, he met the Pakistani surgeon Hasnat Khan, with whom he had a relationship between 1995 and 1997, the year he died in the fateful traffic accident in Paris, France.

“One of her most attractive qualities was her vulnerability. It was what made her love the public. I later found out that Martin took advantage of those vulnerabilities and exploited them. He was very persuasive with Diana. It was about him being from the BBC, respectable and even very pious. But it filled his head with garbage“Recalled the doctor in conversation with the Daily Mail.

Khan also acknowledged that Diana granted the interview in hopes of forcing Carlos to divorce her and that it was William, her then-teenage son, who warned her that Bashir might have bad intentions. He also pointed out that among the arguments that the journalist would have used is that Parker-Bowles, Carlos’s current wife, went to the United States for an aesthetic intervention.

The BBC, aware of the accusations, launched an independent investigation to find out how its journalist, accused of falsifying documents, obtained the so-called “interview of the century” in 1995. This, after Lady Di’s brother, Count Charles spencer, accused Bashir of having forged documents to convince his sister.

Also, a new Channel 4 documentary titled Diana’s interview: the truth behind the scandal, adds that the journalist even told the princess that the security forces they were planning to murder her.

Andrew MortonDiana’s biographer, assured that Bashir would have told the princess “they are going to get rid of you”, in addition he would have shown her a supposed bank statement linked to them, to convince her to speak.

The writer, according to the same outlet, also claimed that Bashir “played on the princess’s fears that her private secretary Patrick Jephson was in cahoots with his counterpart from Prince Charles’s team, Commander Richard Aylard.”
