“I am very happy that Chilean brothers who trust in Argentina, invest and give work”, with those words Alberto Fernandez, president of the neighboring country, thanked the United Breweries Company (CCU) the millionaire investment to be made in the Luján Brewery, located in the province of Buenos Aires.
It is an investment of US $ 57 million with which the Chilean firm will double its production capacity and will generate more than 40 direct and 500 indirect jobs, contributing in a concrete way to the reactivation and economic development of the region and that country.
The announcement was made official in the last hours by Patricio Jottar, general manager of CCU; and Fernando Sanchis, general manager of CCU Argentina, in an activity at the Luján Brewery where the president attended.

Jottar, for his part, highlighted in his words the 25-year history of the company in trans-Andean lands.
“During this time we have invested more than US $ 800 million to make the country grow. CCU’s contribution in Argentina goes beyond the products that are born in its factories. We seek to be an active partner in the development of the country and its people ”, he expressed.
Also participating in the activity were the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof; and the mayor of Luján, Leonardo Boto.
In detail, CCU will install modern technology for brewing beer and will promote the production of the local brands Imperial and Schneider; and the global Heineken, Grolsch and Warsteiner.
Thus, the Luján Brewery will be able to pack more than 200 cans per minute, while it will include solar panels and equipment specially chosen for their energy efficiency and positive environmental impact.
Fernando Sanchis, general manager of CCU Argentina, commented that “beyond the complexity of the context that the country is going through, this investment is proof of the commitment with which CCU and its shareholders have looked to Argentina for 25 years.”
The executive added that they are “Committed to this country and here we are going to stay, that is why we have the vision of doubling the size of this brewery to supply the Argentine market in a competitive way, and at the same time generate export opportunities to the various markets in which the company is present ”.
The announced investment involves the start-up of new brewhouses, fermentation and rest tanks, packaging line, warehouse for spare parts and supplies, logistics warehouse. The civil works and part of the new technology will be of national production, while the rest of the equipment will come from Germany and Poland.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the company placed special emphasis on working with strict protocols to take care of its employees and at the same time, continue to develop and distribute its products.
It currently has more than 1,800 workers directly, supplies itself with more than 5,000 SMEs and generates 20,000 indirect jobs in the value chain.
CCU Argentina is one of the most important beverage companies in that country. At its breweries in Salta, Santa Fe and Luján, it produces the national brands Schneider, Imperial, Palermo, Santa Fe, Salta, among others.
Additionally, he is the holder of license agreements for Miller, Heineken, Amstel, Sol, Warsteiner and Grolsch. In addition, it leads the cider market and is a relevant player in spirits, distillates and wines.
