He government presented a reserve of constitutionality to the project of 10% second withdrawal of pension funds, which was approved in general this Tuesday in the Constitutional Commission of the Lower House, with votes from the ruling party.

“We understand that this project has a quorum of three fifths as they have qualified it, but we consider that it is two thirds. For the same reason, we are going to make a constitutionality reservation in this matter, “said the Minister Cristián Monckeberg after approval.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Segpres, Juan José Ossa, he reaffirmed the request for constitutionality reservation for “all approved projects in general”, noting that “while Chile does not have a new Constitution, the current one must be respected.”

This Tuesday the Constitutional Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved the initiative in general, together with the withdrawal of annuities and the forced withdrawal of alimony debtors.

The initiative was supported with 11 votes in favor and only one against. Now, the proposal must continue to be analyzed in particular in the same committee, before being voted on again and going to the Chamber.
