The Government decided to withdraw the urgency to project that creates insurance to guarantee income to self-employed workers that they deliver honorary tickets that, due to extraordinary situations like the pandemic, they were unable to continue working.

The chairman of the Senate Labor commission, the senator Juan Pablo Letelier (PS) said that “the conviction of the majority of the members of the commission is that it was a bad project, it was poorly designed, and not only the opposition senators, but also the ruling party, did not share the design of the project. “

“There was a conversation with the Minister (of Finance, Ignacio) Briones, who stated that they were going to withdraw the urgency, they were not going to insist on the project as it is and picked up on the opposition’s concern about separating the project, permanently, from the coverage of the pandemic. “

The decision to suspend for now the processing of the project for the benefit of the honorary workers also seeks to improve the climate in the face of processing the presidential veto on emergency family income, which should enter Congress in the afternoon.

In the government they also agreed to postpone the processing of this initiative, which they consider has several difficulties to be reviewed quickly.

“I am in the idea of leaving this project stand by, not rushing the hurdle in this project, which has so many difficulties, and showing ourselves at the disposal of generating an instance of conversation between the Government, the opposition and Chile. We are going to reach agreements that allow us unlock the situation, “said the senator Andrés Allamand (RN).

For her part, the president of the UDI, Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe, He pointed out that he socialized the initiative “with people who in this area have more knowledge than I do and, in general, it is a tangled project. At least the permanent issue is not to be solved in one session.”
