The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights this day requested the resignation of the position of national director of Civil Registry and Identification to the lawyer, Jorge Álvarez, pointing out that they are looking for a “new leadership”.

Through a statement, the portfolio led by Hernán Larraín explained that “the decision was made due to the need for new leadership to face a new stage that the Civil Registry Service will enter, focused on the modernization of the service and the development of new technologies focused on user care that implies even more challenging requirements in times of pandemic ”.

“The ministerial authorities appreciate the work carried out by Jorge Álvarez, who was in office since October 2016 (as a surrogate) and later as the head of the service,” they said.

Now it will be Sergio Mierzejewski, an information and management control engineer from the University of Chile, who will assume the position of national director (s) of Civil Registry and Identification.

“The professional has served as Operations and Technology manager in various private sector institutions and currently, he was serving as deputy director of Studies and Development of the Civil Registry and Identification”, they detailed.
