The Government rejected the request of different unions of the Judicial Power to change the protocols of displacement and manage permits of safe conduct for those members who have hired household advisers and live in quarantined areas.
Let us remember that the judicial representatives They asked the Plenary of the Supreme Court to intercede with the Government to make these changes.
During the health balance of this Thursday, the Undersecretary of Crime Prevention, Katherine Martorell, indicated that the measure “today it is only allowed for health personnel, that is, to those people who are fighting and working every day to combat this pandemic and to take care of the lives of all the inhabitants of our Republic ”.
The authority emphasized that although the request has not reached them, the work of the household advisers not allowed and not essential for people outside the health service.
For her part, the president of the Chilean Magistrates Association, Carola Rivas, pointed out that as a group do not share the request from other guilds.
“In this sense we share (…) an unfortunate diagnosis that this year of pandemic has shown, and that is that the work of caring for children, the sick and the elderly, has rested almost exclusively on women, who have had to assume domestic obligations and of care, in addition to their work obligations, “he added.
According to Rivas, “the request raised by some unions of the Judicial Power, they only reproduce a discriminatory pattern to the detriment of workers, that they enjoy vis-à-vis their employers, obviously less skills to negotiate and less representation of the union in the face of their problems ”.
“In this case we cannot orient a solution in transferring inequality from some women to others, with fewer resources, believing that the professional technical work of the Judicial Power surpasses those who work in private homes, and therefore, they leave their families in their helplessness ”, he sentenced.
