Katherine Martorell, Undersecretary for Crime Prevention, indicated that the suspension of personal permits -announced this Monday- will apply only this weekend.
In this regard, he specified that “That is why this weekend permits will be suspended as a very exceptional measure”.
He also added that the measure will apply “only for this weekend (..) next weekend you can go to the supermarket.”
In addition, he pointed out that the objective is “that this weekend we avoid the transfer of around four million people who requested this general permit.”
“The general permit is around 98% of the permits that exist within the Virtual Police Station”he added.
Along these lines, Martorell stated that “Next weekend you can go to the supermarket, but I would like to remember that all measures are always evaluated according to the need and the behavior of the pandemic ”.
“All the measures that tend to take care of people’s lives, which is the priority of this Government, they will be adopted when they should be adopted “, he sentenced.
For her part, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, explained that “we have implemented this measure, which is a tough measure, which is difficult, depending on the epidemiological situation that our country is experiencing “.
“The important thing is to reduce mobility within all regions, that is why we have talked about the importance of suspending this permit (…) The suspension of this permit during this weekend will allow to reduce displacements, which will to have an incidence -and we hope that it will- in containing the pandemic “, he indicated.
