The Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, Felipe Ward, formally announced this afternoon the entry of a presidential veto in order to unlock the Emergency Family Income bill in Congress.
“You know very well the difficulties we have encountered along the way, what have been the pitfalls we have encountered in processing both in the Chamber of Deputies and in the Senate,” said the secretary of state.
From the Palacio de la Moneda, and in the company of his Social Development peer, Sebastián Sichel, Ward specified that the additive and substitute veto was entered at 3:00 p.m. through the Chamber of Deputies.
“We hope in this last procedural stage, this legislative opportunity, that the parliamentarians understand that this call that President Piñera has made and that we are making understand is that they benefited him are too many to leave them waiting,” he said.
The authority said it hopes to process this veto “hopefully” this week in both houses of parliament. The initiative will be processed in principle in the Finance Commission tomorrow morning and then, “if everything goes well”, in the Chamber room in the afternoon and review it in the Senate on Wednesday.
The Minister of Social Development, Sebastián Sichel, also confirmed that the amounts of the initiative are maintained.
“All people who live on informal incomes, up to 60% of the Social Registry of Homes, receive exactly the same benefit. And second, those over 70 years of age who could be excluded due to living alone, are incorporated into the benefit, ”said the authority.
