The video conference between opposition leaders and the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, I do not leave the Chilean government indifferent – who through the Foreign Ministry – expressed to the Trans-Andean government its “Deep strangeness”, regarding the comments of the Kirchner leader and qualifies his words as “Interference in internal affairs of Chile”.
As reported by the Foreign Ministry this day, the Undersecretary (S) for Foreign Relations, Raúl Fernández met with the Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Argentine Republic, the Minister Carlos Mascías, to talk about Fernández’s statements during the virtual meeting with Chilean politicians, which caused “strangeness” in La Moneda.
In this sense, the Foreign Ministry expresses that “such statements do not facilitate or contribute to continue moving forward on a bilateral agenda that has been fruitful and that it has been developed under various governments in the two countries ”.
However, the Chilean government “maintains its willingness to continue working for common interests within the framework of a positive and respectful dialogue between the two countries.”
The meeting – organized by Chilean members of the Puebla Group – had the participation of several opposition representatives, including nine senators, eleven deputies, eight former ministers and former deputy secretaries, and five party presidents.
In the instance, Fernández called on Chilean politicians to “settle their differences in order to regain power in favor of Chileans.”
Previously members of the Republican Civic Union, Progressivism with Progress, Community on the Move and Democratic Change rejected the participation of figures from the former New Majority and other opposition parties in the teleconference under the premise of “Chile’s problems are solved in Chile ”.
