The government announced the delivery of the new benefit that will be automatically delivered to those people who received the last payment of the Emergency Family Income, and that seeks to help people who have seen their economic income decreased due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic .
The so-called “Covid Christmas Bonus” hopes to benefit three million households, with a contribution of 25 thousand pesos per person, for those who live in communes that are in phases 2, 3 and 4 of the Step by Step plan.
In the case of those who live in quarantined communes until November 30, they will receive the sum of $ 55 thousand pesos for each member of the household.
The Minister of Social Development, Karla Rubilar, confirmed that in addition to this benefit, they are working on the delivery of a new IFE in the event of a possible outbreak of Covid-19 infections.
“We also sent an IFE of Reappearance of 2021. This is like a ‘button’ of the Emergency Family Income that we will be able to activate for those who were benefited from IFE 6 as well as for households that might require this help”, he specified.
From the opposition, the socialist deputy Manuel Monsalve, pointed out that Chileans have not recovered their sources of income and that therefore more forceful measures are needed by the Government.
The objective of the Executive is to start paying the Christmas bonus from next December 21. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance is preparing the delivery of the next IFE benefit for 60% of the most vulnerable households in the country.
