This feature may allow healthcare professionals to monitor the spread of the virus.
Technology giants Apple and Google announced this Friday that they are introducing a system that allows mobile devices to share information and track contacts which were in the immediate vicinity.
Such a function may allow health officials to control spread of coronavirus, seeing who was in close contact with infected people. Thus, users who have been diagnosed will be able to provide this information to health authorities, and a system that will work through Bluetooth connections will be able to issue a warning on the mobile phone of the person who came into contact with the pathogen.
“Several leading public health authorities, universities and NGOs around the world have done important work to develop contact tracking technology for voluntary subscription“To advance this reason, Apple and Google will launch a comprehensive solution that includes application programming interfaces (APIs) and operating system level technology to help track contacts,” both companies said.
According to Google, this technology will not track the location or identity of users, but will only collect data about when cell phones were located close to each other, which will be stored for approximately 14 days,
This data “will only be used to track contacts from public health authorities to manage the Covid 19 pandemic,” the statement said.

It is expected that the project will be launched in May at the official request of the health authorities, but companies warn that in the coming months they also plan to introduce monitoring technology directly. in their operating systems underlie, so users don’t need to download any applications to start registering nearby phones.
It is worth noting that technology is voluntary, and users should give your permission if you want me to follow you.
“Confidentiality, transparency and consent are paramount in these efforts, and we hope to create this functionality in consultation with interested parties. We will openly publish information about our work so that others can check it, ”the companies concluded.
