The House Ethics Commission sanctioned the deputy of the Democratic Revolution (RD), Giorgio Jackson, with the discount of 2% of the parliamentary allowance, after the controversy over the donations made to his political party.
Deputies of the ruling party had denounced Jackson before the Ethics Commission, after deputy Renato Garín, a former RD parliamentarian, denounced that his colleague donated half of his diet to the political party and not to other types of organizations, as was thought.
For this reason, The Ethics Commission considered Jackson violated article 346 number 3 letter A of the Corporation’s regulations.
Garín’s complaint recalled an episode in 2015, when Jackson was questioned by former soccer player Eduardo Bonvallet, who asked him to lower his salary and the former president of the FEUC said that he donated half of his diet, although without specifying to which institution.
According to Jackson, in later interviews he explained that half of his salary was donated to his own party, for which he questioned the accusation before the Ethics Commission.
In addition to the sanction to the RD deputy, the independent Pedro Velásquez was also sanctioned, who was reprimanded with 3% of his salary, when last June he threatened to hit two women on Route 5 in Coquimbo.
Velásquez’s threat was made known by a video that went viral on social networks, where an obfuscated deputy undertook them against the two women.
In the registry, two people are seen inside a vehicle, who argue with the parliamentarian while filming the altercation.
Meanwhile, an obfuscated Velásquez threatens one of them on the other side of the window, in the context of a discussion without context. “But if this is not the case, take good care of your mouth,” says the deputy, receiving a “are you threatening me?” From the woman recording.
“If it had been like that, the combo in the snout that I give you, no one will take it from you,” responds the congressman, who later apologized for what happened.
