Through a public statement, the Jaime Guzmán Foundation met the criticism generated by a CHV report, which revealed that UDI parliamentarians paid more than $ 300 million in external consultancies, being that some of the reports they presented were copies of Congress reports, which are open.
“The Foundation’s link with the National Congress is materialized through external advisory contracts. Specifically, a contracting modality called ‘multiple contract’, where there is a single contract, currently signed by 20 parliamentarians”, they begin by stating .
Along these lines, they explain that all contracts “between the Jaime Guzmán Foundation and the National Congress fully comply with current legislation, having been audited and validated by the Comptroller of the Chamber of Deputies.”
“This contracting modality seeks to make efficient and effective use of public resources,” they add, which would also mean, as they explain, a “substantially lower cost than that incurred by each deputy in case of hiring a private advisor.”
“The Jaime Guzmán Foundation receives a monthly sum of $ 10,400,000 pesos from the Chamber of Deputies. With this amount, only part of the salaries, transfers and accommodation of the legislative team to Valparaíso, made up of 10 professionals from the most prestigious universities in our country, is paid for ”, they say.
After clarifying this, they indicated that each time this type of accusation arises, “the work carried out, the inputs and surcharges delivered and the justification for each payment made have been demonstrated. This opportunity was not the exception, we delivered to the channel (CHV) an explanatory minute on the modality and contents of the consultancies and the supplies delivered ”.
“This reveals that the media had a previous thesis and did not care about the facts but to demonstrate it at any cost, trying to muddy the prestige of serious institutions”, they accuse, ending their statement thanking the work of the parliamentarians.
“Our commitment to the care and good use of public resources and transparency. The contract and each advisory report are available on the website of the Chamber of Deputies, open to the scrutiny of public opinion: there is nothing hidden ”, they conclude.
