To issue Medical licenses, licensed physicians, midwives and dental surgeons should do so in a digital form As of today, January 1, 2021, through operators that currently process said documents electronically.
This as instructed in Decree No. 46 that modifies the Supreme Decree No. 3, which indicates that it will be mandatory for all providers to issue in this format, except in special cases where the appropriate technological means are not available.
The exceptions to continue delivering these documents on paper will be circumstances such as the lack of technological means or incompatibility of these in the place where they are required, for example, that the area does not have internet access.
Before the latter the Compin, The entity in charge of selling medical license stubs, will only make this format available to those issuers who are under this type of special circumstances.
The Director of the Compin Nacional Department, Victoria Campos, He stated that “given the benefits that this system brings to the digital flow of medical license processing, it will be essential that both the treating physician and the employer are attached to one of the electronic medical license operators such as Medipass, IMED and the Fonasa portal www.lmempleador.cl “.
It should be noted that the issuance of electronic medical licenses began in
2007 for Isapre contributors and at the end of 2011 it was extended for workers affiliated with Fonasa. The latter -as of November 30, 2020- registered 87.1% of digital medical license use. Of this percentage, 78.1% corresponds to full electronic medical licenses, that is, the employer is assigned to an operator, while the remaining 21.9% is not. That is why the Compin Nacional Department urges them to adhere to this new system to speed up the processing process.
