Various political actors, both from the ruling party and from the opposition, have squared off with the Mayor of the Bío Bío region after the public reprimand of the ministers Enrique Paris and Jorge Bellolio.
This after Sergio Giacaman criticized the family permits that will be delivered for National Holidays, within the framework of the “Fondéate en tu Casa” plan, qualifying the measures as permissive and contradictory for communes that are in quarantine.
For this reason, he asked the Minister of Health to evaluate them, considering the increase in cases in the Bío Bío, receiving in response a strong criticism from the central government.
“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the regions, but also draw attention to some regional authorities that they have to join the national effort and not have opinions that are sometimes legitimate, but that delegitimize the national opinion that we have tried to convey, “said Enrique Paris this Friday morning, adding that he was referring directly to the mayor of Bío Bio.
The Minister of the Government Spokesman joined the words of Paris, indicating that “I have talked with the mayor of Bío Bío, who has told me that will correct their sayings, because the important thing is how we can get out of the pandemic together to start the recovery together ”.

The reactions in support of the Bío Bío mayor did not wait, which arose both from the ruling party and opposition.
The first to issue a statement was the president of the UDI and senator for the area, Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe, who in an interview with Radio Bío Bío said that the ministers they are making a mistake.
“I’m going to call Jaime Bellolio, because I think they are making a mistake,” said the senator, adding that “What (Giacaman) did is do what corresponds, which is to tell Santiago that here it is a mistake in communes where there is quarantine to treat them the same as communes that may be in a transition or stage 3 ″.
Senator Alejandro Navarro (PRO), for his part, also lent his support to Sergio Giacaman.
“Mayor Giacaman you don’t have to correct your sayingsIt has to confirm them, that is, the permits are a permissive and contradictory measure that will only increase the contagion, ”the parliamentarian emphasized.
Navarro added that the people who must correct his statements are Ministers Paris and Bellolio.
Sergio Bobadilla, also a UDI deputy, criticized the measures, calling on the Minsal to rectify permissions that will be available to quarantined communes.

The mayor of Talcahuano, Henry Campos, joined the series of endorsements, qualifying the permits as a measure centralist and irresponsible.
Support to the Mayor @sgiacamang. He only expressed concern for the public health of our Region before a centralist and irresponsible measure far from our reality and that makes it difficult to contain COVID in the communes in which we are confined.#SantiagoNoesChile

Manuel Monsalve, a socialist deputy, said that the statements of the ministers are irresponsible. “From now on I want to say that I reject them, it seems that they don’t realize what is happening in our region “.
“In this case, the mayor Sergio Giacaman, did the right thing “Monsalve emphasized.
Francesca Muñoz, RN deputy for the area and wife of the Bío Bío Health Department, Héctor Muñoz, called reconsider the measures with a look at the regions and not from a centralist point of view.
The ex-mayor of Bío Bío, Rodrigo Díaz, supported his successor and denounced the conduct of the Central Government as a lack of respect. “It seems to me that what Sergio Giacaman did is reasonable.”
The core UDI, Luis Santibáñez, presented a protection appeal against the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, to avoid that in the communes of the province of Concepción that are in quarantine special permits are granted to leave during the National Holidays
